Johannes Basson 1
born 1675 2

died circa 1706 4
Notes:
Since he is the only Johannes Basson to be found in the records
at this time I have assumed that it was he who was the father of
Arnoldus Basson baptised 1700. Indeed, in the muster roll of 1700
and Jan 1702 Jan Basson and de Wed:e van Diderik Putter are
listed one after the other in the Cape District - perhaps he worked
as a knegt on her farm?

He is listed in the muster rolls of free settlers form 1695 onwards,
when he was in the Cape Town district, in 1704 he is listed nex to
his brother, Jacobus van As, in the Drakenstein District and his
last appearence in the records is 1705 when he is listed in the
muster rolls and the opgaaf returns as farming in Drakenstein.
We can assume, therefore, that he died, unmarried, during1706.

circa 1701 extramarital relationship

( Muster rolls 23 Jan 1701: de wed. Dierick Putter
muster rolls 1703, Cape District, Sacharia Jansz Visser, wede. Diederick Putter.)
