Johannes Bocklenbergh 1 surgeon (1699) Heemraad, Stellenbosch (1707) born circa 1668, Colberg in Hinderpoomeren 2 died circa 1709 3 Notes: He seems to have spent circa 1697 until about 1700 as junior surgeon on Mauritius. He appears then to have been transferred to Batavia as Chief Surgeon, from whence he, his wife and his children returned to Mauritius some time in 1704. J.A.Hoge states that his wife died on 6th November 1704 and that he and his children then transferred to the Cape where they arrived in 1705, settling in Stellenbosch. Certainly, he married in Stellenbosch on the 5th October 1705. His farm in Stellenbosch, Moddergat, 54 morgen in size, was sold from his estate 7th August 1709 to Nicolaas Gockelius and immediately sold on by him to Theunis de Bruijn. The original grant was dated 3rd December 1692 but to whom it was made is not stated. children of Johannes Bocklenbergh and Magdalena Zaaijman Petronella Bocklenbergh born circa 1698 born circa 1698, Mauritius  married Coenraad Feijt 4 Johannes Bocklenbergh 5 born circa 1700 born circa 1700 6 Notes: On 29th June 1723, a petition to the Council of Policy, presumably from the Masters of the Weeskamer, since he is stated to be a ward of that body, declared that he had been apprenticed to his brother-in-law, the burgher Coenraad Feijt, but that he does not attend to his work, roaming around the country doing nothing and leading a life of dissipation. He will not keep to his promises to do better in the future and is taken into the Company's service as a sailor.
