Bartholomeus Jansz Coopman Engeltje Cornelisz van der Bout

Catharina Coopman 1 born circa 1698, at the Cape 2 Notes: I believe she is in all probability a daughter of this Coopman family (I have been able to trace no other family of that name at this time). The evidence is slim but I find it convincing. In the Muster Roll of 1719 she is listed with ther husband: Symon Pietersz Plooy & Catharina Bartholomeus. She was also a witness at the baptism of Catrijn Zaaijman, daughter of Anna Maria Coopman, on 22 October 1719. Being witness at a baptism was an honour, and usually accorded to members of the family. She herself did not, apparently, have any of her family as baptismal witnesses for her own children.

The Cape Town register jumps from page 8. last date 17 Novbr 1697, to page 9. 5 Octbr 1698. indicating that before the present page numbering a page, containing most of 1698, had gone missing. It seems likely that Catharina's baptism would have appeared on one of these two missing pages.
