Willem Burger Barendz: 1 farmer of De Bosjemansrivier in 1787 and in 1791 Aanteetsfontein, both in the Sneeuwberg 2 Burger Adjutant, Graaf Reinet 3 born 1742 4 baptized 20 September 1742, Drakenstein 5 died March 1791, Land van Waveren 6 will dated 12 January 1791, (jointly with Judith Grundlingh) 7 and filed 9 April 1791 8 Notes: In 1787, when his first wife died, they had two farms, one named De Bosjesmans Rivier in the Sneeuwberg, and the other named De Riet Fontein situated in the Camdebo mountains. (MOOC 8/50, 22a) In 1791 and again in 1794 his widow, in a petition to the Council of Policy, mentions that her husband left his affairs in a confused state and that she and her nine children are living in the direst poverty. If this is accurate, it indicates a birth date of June 1786. children of Willem Burger and Judiet Grundeling Johannes Schalk Burger 17 Notes: He is named in his fathers will of January 1791. Jacobus Petrus Alewijn Burger 18 born circa 1791 baptized 23 October 1791, Cape Town 19 Notes: This child was named in his father's will of January 1791 as Alewijn Petrus, but, assuming this is the same child, he was baptised in October of that year as Jacobus Petrus Alewijn.

# The parents of Willem Burger Barendz: In the marriage entry in the Tulbagh church register of 1773 he is named as 'Willem Burger Barendz., burger aan Stellenbosch' and in the marriage entry in the Cape Town church register of 1787 he is 'Willemem Burgers Barend Zoon, Burger aan Graaf-Reynet'.
