will dated 5 December 1624 | | Notes: | He made a will on 5th December 1624 in which he is described
as a bachelor and the son of the late Alewijn Jacobs. He names
his mother, Maritgen Joosten, as his heir. I am not sure at what
age one was able to make a will, but I have assumed a birth date
of circa 1607 based on this fact and the date of the marriage of
his parents.
In March 1626 he was clerk to the Delft notary Johan van Beest.
On the 21st December 1663 his widow, Elisabeth van der Piet,
appeared before the Weeskamer at Delft and reported that
there were five children, Marij aged 16 years, Alewijn aged 9,
Ariaentie, age 6 years, Dirck aged 4 years and Willem Jacobs
Thol aged 2 years. The court appointed as their guardians,
Willem van Assendelft, Mr Nicolaes van Assendelft Advoct.
and Geerardt van Assendelft.
There are two children of Jacob Alewijnsz. Tol of langendijck
buried in the Oudekerk, Delft, one on the 16th February 1652
and the other on the 14th September 1652.
The family lived in a house called 'de Snouck' on the north
west corner of the Jacob Gerritsen straet and the Oude-
langendijk, just off the main Market Square in Delft. |

Notes: On the 12th April 1684 he appeared before the gentlemen
of the Weeskamer in Delft and declared that he was now of full age
and had taken on the administration of his own affairs. He thanked
his mother for her good care of him and absolved her of any more
responsibility. He also thanked the gentlemen of the Weeskamer
and his Guardians for their good care of him and his belongings.
