Pierre Lombard circa 1658-1714 Maria Couteau circa 1659-1718

Claudine Lombard 1 born circa 1690 died circa 1749, (date of Inventory) Notes: Her age was given as 19 years in her parents' will dated the 8th January 1709. Around 1715 she and her sister Marianne were listed among the members of the Drakenstein Congregation. She is noted to have moved to Stellenbosch with an attestation dated 5th December 1717 and the receipt of this attestation is also recorded in the list of members of the Stellenbosch congregation. In 1722 she was described as the widow of the farmer David du Buisson who had held on loan for eight years a plot of ground in Hottentots Holland at the Lourens River, near the Mostert Bay. His death has left this widow and her four children in sorrowfull circumstances and she therefore asks that the place may be given to her in freehold. Annexed is a document written by Philip Morkel, of Onverwacht, Hottentots Holland, stating that the ground adjoins his property and he has no objection to the widow getting it. (Leibbrandt, Requesten, 1706-1815, page 665l) Her family has been reconstructed from the Estate Accounts of Gerrit van Hoeting dated between September 1752 and May 1756 and the Inventory drawn up in 1728 after her death.
