Aletta Verwey 1 of Stinke Rivier, Tijgerbergen 2 born Woerden 3 died between January and April 1721, (date of inventory) 4 Notes: Her children are given as listed in her Inventory of 21 May 1721 and her Estate Accounts of 1723, and as found in the baptismal registers. On 31st December 1720 she petitioned the Council of Justice, stating that she had held the loan farm, Stinke Rivier in the Tijgerbergen, for 40 years and she now requested the freehold. ( Leibbrandt - Requesten, page 1244m) The inventory of her goods made after her death would seem to imply that the farm De Hooge Bergs Valleij, situated in the Tygerberg not far from Cape Town, was where she lived. The house had three rooms and several outbuildings. After her death it was bought by her son-in-law Claas van der Westhuisen. She also owned the farm that is mentioned above in the same area - this was sold to Jan Mijndertsz: Kruijwagen , and another in the Roodezand (Tulbagh) area, called De Vrolijkheijd.
