Pieter Bureé
born Maastricht 1
died before 1768 2
 | Notes: | He was accused, and later convicted, of careless conduct with regard to fire and light, having already once been warned by the Burger Council, but having taken no notice of this warning, he had recently appeared in full daylight on the street, drunk, falling about and carrying fire, thereby causing a public danger.
On the 31st December he presented a petition to the Council of Policy, stating that he was in a sorry state since not only had the Council of Justice recently separated him from his wife, but now he was being prosecuted for his behaviour when drunk. He was truly sorry for his conduct and asked the Council not to exile him to India but to send him home to the fatherland.
The Council noted that since he had that morning been condemned by the Council of Justice as a usless piece of furniture (een onnut meubil) to be banned from the Cape, they would allow him to depart for the fatherland, but only at his own expense.
