# The parents of Johannes Cornelisz: Olivier

His marriage entry in the Drakenstein register 1730,
gives his name as Jan Cornelisz: Olivier, employing
the patronymic 'Cornelisz:' to indicate that the name
of his father was Cornelis. Such patronymics were
generally used at the Cape in order to distinguish
different people who bore the same name.

Baptismal witnesses for his children include Arnoldus
Basson and Catharina Olivier (sister), Anna van der
Weij (mother), Stephanus Bekker and Sara Olivier
(sister), and Rudolph Brits (nephew) and Huibreg Brand.
