1 Robards, Kevin - personal communication, Email received 23 July 2002, Robards, Kevin eamailed information 14 January 2009 The death of Rebecca nee bromley at Staplehurst was recorded in his notebook by Jacob Chapman, the Pastor of the Staplehurst Congregational chapel from 1740-1795 (Centre for Kentish Studies) : Mrs.Twaite died Oct 5 1792. There is no indication that she was one of his flock, rather Gillian Rickard, professional genealogist, thinks that he noted her death possibly because she was known to him and maybe one of the principal inhabitants in the village. Stephen Thwaites was apparently a shopkeeper and so was in the same line of business as Jacob Chapman, whose income was partly made up from the proceeds of the small general business he ran in the village.
