The entry in the register is abbreviated and I have puzzled over it a good deal. My first impression was that it was 'Jochem' but it could conceivably have been meant to be 'Johannes'. The name as written is constructed of 'Joh' with a horizontal line of abbreviation through the upper part of the 'h' - then follows a gap and a few more letters which, in the microfilm copy I had access to, I was unable to resolve into recognisable letters - it certainly more resembled an 'm' than an 's' but, on the other hand, it is usual (in my experience) for these abbreviation marks to announce missing letters to come, rather than indicate letters already left out.
