Notes:
He arrived at the Cape in 1666 as a sailor on the ship Walcheren, after
which he was freed to work a hand to the freeburgers, but in 1670 he
asked to be taken back into the Company service under a three year
contract at 13 guldens per month, and then to become a farmer.

On the 21st May 1703 he was absolved by the Militia Council from
military duty on account of his advanced age. (1 STB 15/2)
