Pieter Christiaansz de Jager
died circa 1715
Ermina Karelse
died 1713
Carel Pietersz: de Jager 1
of De Spiegel Rivier, Swellendam 2
born 1699, at the Cape 3
baptized 24 May 1699, Cape Town 4
died 26 July 1765 5
Notes:
The Cape Death notifications, starting 1758, in that
year note the following dreadful list of deaths in the
Swellendam district:

Een soon van Carel de Jager gent. Carel
een dogter van Carel de Jager gent. Magdalena
een soon van Carel de Jager gent Andries
een soon van Carel de Jager gent. Pieter
een soon van Carel de Jager gent. Jan
een dogter van Carel de Jager gent. Hermina
een dogter van Carel de Jager gent. Hester

but I don't think they can all have been Carel de Jager's
children. It nevertheless suggests something dreadful
happened in that year.

# The parents of Carel Pietersz: de Jager

There is no direct evidence, but I have assumed that Carel Pietersz: de Jager,
married in 1725 and 1726 was the same person as the child Carel baptised in 1699.
Witness at the baptism of his first son was Andries Pieterzen De Jager, at that of
his second son Elisabeth Potgieter, wife of Andries de Jager, at that of his daughter
Johanna was Christiaan de Jager, and at that of his daugher Magdalena,
Lourens de Jager.
