# The parents of Anna Marais

It seems that she was one of the children of Charles Marais and
Anne de Ruel. At the opgaaf of 1719 Anne de Ruel lists 4 sons and
3 daughters living with her. We have the batpism of only 1 daughter,
Deborah. The family lived in the Drakenstein area, where the early
church registers had disappeared by the early 1720s (see my notes
here). Judging from the baptismal witness of her children this Anna
Marais would appear to have been one of those 3 daughgters.
