Stephanus Gous 1 of De Elands Valleij, at the Swarte Berg 2 born 1729, at the Cape 3 baptized 25 September 1729, Cape Town 4 will dated 1787 and filed 8 May 1801 5 Notes: He was described as a burger of Swellendam upon his marriage. I believe, on the evidence of the baptisms of his first two children (I have not been able to examine details of the baptims of his later children) where the witnesses for the second child, Catharina, were Catharina Hofman and Willem Landman, maternal grandmother of the child with her second husband, and the witnesses for the first child, Andries, were Johanna Conterman and Jan le Grange, the child's paternal grandmother with her second husband. In his will dated 1787 he declared that his parents were no longer alive.
