James Ball 1
fisherman  2
of 1851, 7 Wellington Terrace
1861, 6 Wellington Cottages
1871, 8 Wellington Court, Hastings St Clement
 3
born circa 1831, Hastings 4
Notes:
In the 1851 census he and Charlotte are recorded at
7 Wellington Terrace, St Mary in the Castle, Hastings,
no children. He is a solicitor's general clerk.

Their marriage is most likely this one. from the GRO
index of marriages: BALL James, Hastings, December
quarter 1850, volume 7, page 625. There are two brides
named Charlotte on that page, surnames Blake and
Jordan.

With a quick search I cannot find either of this couple on
a later census than 1871.

It seems likely that he was the James Ball who was born
circa 1830, son of John and Emma Ball. The marriage
certificate will probaly help confirm or refute this.
