1755 smallpox epidemic and the children seem to have been cared
for by their grandfather, Marthinus Bastroo. (MOOC 13/1/4, 23)
According to the inventory drawn up in August 1755 after her death,
they owned two houses in Cape Town. The house inventoried, one
assumes their dwelling house, was in the usual style of a gallery with
a room either side and a room over, plus a kitchen, and seems to have
been well furnished. They owned seven slaves. |
